What it does

Every restoration does all three

  • Repair damage

Repair scratches, cracks, dust, stains and glare from scans of printed photos, designed to keep the people, clothing, background and framing as they are.

  • Keep the original colors

Black-and-white and sepia photos stay that way. Turn on Add color for plausible color (2 more credits), and check it against what you know.

  • Sharpen and add resolution

Get a sharper copy 4800 pixels on the long side, ready for printing. It's AI, so compare every face with your original.

How it works

How to restore a photo

  1. Upload a working copy

Add a JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 10MB. Keep your original scan somewhere safe.
  2. Check the options and cost

Keep your photo's shape and colors, or turn on Add color, then check the total credit cost.
  3. Compare and download

Review the result next to your original at full size, then download it.

Before you share it

Check the result for your task

AI can add plausible detail that was never in the original. A quick check keeps the result trustworthy.

  • Family portraits

Compare eyes, teeth, expressions and clothing with the original, and ask someone who knew the person before sharing.

  • Historical photos

Keep the untouched scan and label edited copies. 43frames is not an archival preservation service.

Gifts and keepsakes

A restored photo makes a lasting gift

Memorials and funerals

Restore a photo for a memorial or funeral

When time is short, start with the best copy you have. A restoration takes a few minutes, and you can print it at any photo lab.

  1. Restore the photo

Upload a phone photo or scan. Turn on Add color only if you want it colorized.
  2. Make a print

Choose 5×7, 8×10 or 11×14 and the part of the photo to keep. The file is sized for 300 DPI.
  3. Check it with family

Compare the face with the original before you print, and keep your original scan.

Need a bigger file for print? Try photo upscaling. It has its own credit cost.
